Parker West is on the field looking around at all the familiar faces feeling happy, overwhelmed, excited, and scared all at the same time.
The first football game is September 1st, 2023 at McAnally Middle School. The cheerleaders are going to be cheering to a song called “Fight Song” from the high school. Cheering on Tuesday night lights is Parker West’s favorite thing about being on the McAnally Cheer Team. It’s West’s second year on the McAnally Middle Cheer Team, and she is excited to start another year as a side base.
Every Tuesday there is a football game, which means the cheerleaders have to go to cheer. The cheerleaders cheer for the football players because it gives the team more confidence and gives the fans something to watch during halftime. West says she is always loud so the crowd can hear what they are saying.
The cheerleaders go to practice Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. On Monday they have to wear a black t-shirt that says bearcat cheer team, black shorts, and a bow, and on Tuesday they have to wear a white t-shirt, black shorts, and a bow. At the practices they practice their cheers and stunts.
Every Tuesday the Lady Cats cheer for the football players. On game days they have to wear their cheer skirt, their cheer tank top, and a bow.
“Cheer is great because she has all of her friends in it, it is fun, and she loves doing cheer,” West said.
West is on the McAnally Cheer team and she is a side base, so she lifts the flier up. West tries to be happy, helpful, enthusiastic, and cheerful. She always tries to be in a good mood and always gives it her all.
“Cheer is great because she has all of her friends in it, it is fun, and she loves doing cheer,” West said. “ I love coach Tyler because she is caring and is always in a good mood at practice.”
