7th grader Rhett Rinks was going to the movies with his mom when out of nowhere trash flew onto the car windshield. “I was terrified when I realized I couldn’t see out of my car’s windshield. I thought I would crash.” Mrs.Rinks said.
Vehicle-related trash accounts for twelve million pounds of litter on our roads each year. Uncovered loads are the number one cause of roadside litter and debris. When this litter is on the road it could cause accidents. For example, if something big was just left on the road someone could run it over and send it back to the other car and possibly break their windshield and hurt them.
“I was upset when I saw that someone just threw trash like that on the road. If we didn’t stop to clean up our windshield it could have ended badly.” 7th grader Rhett Rinks said.
“I hope that more people will be more cautious where they put their trash. They need to take care of it and make sure it goes where it needs to.” Mrs. Rinks said.
They wanted to share this story to let people know if you litter it can do damage, even when you think it won’t do anything.
