In a very thrilling season the Ladycats basketball team puts up a fight. The 7th grade team ended the season with a record of four winning games and the 8th grade team won five games.
“The games this season were great and I think I did pretty well,” 8th grader Teagan Olea said.
Eighth grader Makayla Fluitt always wants to catch up to win the game.
“My biggest challenge in basketball is when you’re losing and you’re trying to catch up,” 8th grader Makayla Fluitt said.
When it comes to facing challenges, 7th grader Hannah Botts doesn’t shy away from the pressure.
“My hardest challenge is basketball whenever there is a lot of pressure on me,” Hannah Botts 7th grader said. “My hardest challenge in basketball is not trying to foul out and airballing in front of people.”
Seventh grader Emmy Davidson is working hard on not fouling during the game.
“ The biggest challenge is basketball is trucking people,” Davidson said.
When it comes to offering advice to fellow athletes, the Ladycats have plenty of wisdom to share.
“Try your best and have fun when you play,” Olea said.
“Work with the team and try your best,” Botts said.
“Be aggressive and don’t let one game dislike your faith in the sport,” Davidson said. “Be strong and think like a goldfish.”
When it comes to preparing for a game, each athlete has their own unique routine to get ready both mentally and physically.
“I prepare myself by listening to music and practicing my shots,” Fluitt said.
For Hannah Botts, faith plays a crucial role in her preparation.
“I prepare myself by doing a quick prayer with my friends and listening to music,” Botts said.
Whether through music, practice, or prayer, each athlete finds strength in their pre-game rituals.
“I prepare myself by reading the daily verse in the Bible app and listening to music,” Davidson said.
