The band Why Don’t We, often shortened to WDW, formed on September 17th, 2016, and were an active band until 2022. It consisted of Jonah Marais, Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, and Zach Herron. Most bands meet each other, realize that they all have talent, and then start a band, but every member of Why Don’t We already had solo music careers before forming the band in Los Angeles, California. In 2022, the band went on hiatus due to legal issues with their management. In early 2024, a jury ruled that the members breached their contract, and in 2025, they lost the rights to use the name “Why Don’t We.”
I think that their band should have been allowed to stay together. Why Don’t We was having a very successful career together. They won the “Choice Music Group” award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, received two Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, earned two RIAA Platinum-certified singles, sold out headlining tours, and performed at Madison Square Garden. If they had been allowed to keep their name, I think they would have been able to do so much more. Y’all should go listen to some of their music some of you might like it.
