The art show is more than just a collection of drawings; it is a vibrant mosaic of student imagination. Each piece offers a glimpse into a student’s inner world, capturing raw emotions, evolving attitudes, and unique perspectives.
Art class is vital for 8th graders to manage the intense emotional and social changes of early adolescence. It shifts from simple coloring to complex exploration, allowing them to process feelings, boost confidence, and learn to solve problems creatively. Students would explain how art improves their mental health and gives them peace to the mind, allowing them to improve their social activity.
Many students have improved their mindset and mental health from drawing. Art enhances their skills, thinking, and promotes social health.
“Art calms my mind and lets me think differently/more positively! Art has enchanted me to higher levels that I didn’t know I could reach. My skills and attitude got better. I don’t know what I would do if I hadn’t joined art,” 8th grader Emily Landrum said.
Students 7–8th talked about how they were very happy about the art show, not that they were happy about showing their work but showing the creativity of their minds! Landrum said that showing her artwork feels like expressing her feelings to others.
Furthermore, students tend to like art because of the peace it gives them and how it makes them feel, but some students have mentioned that art shows can make them feel nervous and competitive towards others.
“I’m excited about the art show because I get to show the hard work that I did in putting into my piece,” Cassandra Solis said. “My art piece was my dog! A picture I had taken a while ago, I felt the need to draw him to always remember him forever.”

![Run Like The Wind! Maddox Murry (8th) runs at a cross country meet on September 25. He ran his hardest, and just locked in, just like at every meet. “My brain just stops and my body just operates itself and somehow navigates [itself] like autopilot,” Murry said.](https://mmsrewind.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Screenshot-2025-02-26-11.35.51-AM.png)
