First off, knowing how to dive can help extend your defensive range to keep the ball alive in a long or short rally. There are many ways of how to dive like dolphin diving, barrel roll, duck walk, sprawl, and a pancake dive. Another reason is that learning the proper technique of diving prevents injuries, such as protecting knees and wrists, by teaching players how to fall and slide without landing heavily. And when diving it can be very helpful because it can help players gain confidence and not be scared of hitting the ground which makes the players more aggressive in chasing the ball down on the court. Lastly, it’s also useful as a last option when someone is running really fast for a ball and cannot stop.

About the Contributor
My name is Lacey, and I am in 8th grade. I joined journalism because I want to learn how to take good photos and I mostly just wanted to try something new. Outside of school I play volleyball and enjoy spending time with family and friends. A fun fact about me is that I lived in England for 2 and a half year and Florida for 7-8 years. My favorite TV show is the summer I turned pretty. Lastly, this is year I hope to get better with photographing and writing stories.
