Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Beyonce. All good beats, but are they really worth listening to? Hear me out. Pop music has a lack of creativity, making beats and sounds that are repetitive throughout each song. Also, many pop songs give off toxic words and lyrics unnecessary for anyone to hear. For example, Lady Gaga, a popular pop artist, has a song called “Poker Face” that several people like. As you dive deeper into the lyrics you will notice certain topics such as gambling, and repeated cuss words. A lot of pop songs talk about love. 64% of people, even children, listen to this type of music. Love, like romance, should not be suggested for children until about 14. Overall, I would give pop music a 4 out of 10 due to being a bad influence, and having low changes.

About the Contributor
Hello, my name is Laney Lawrence. I am in 8th grade, and this is my first time in a journalism class. I joined journalism because my dream is to be an author, I have always loved writing and I thought this could help me meet my goal! Something I love doing outside of school is writing stories! I love to use my imagination and creative mind to write something sensational! Fun fact, I am currently working on a story right now, It’s called Drifted. Any book I read or write has to be fantasy, I adore anything with magic and wonder, such as Harry Potter! This year in journalism I hope to find something I can bring my creative imagination into. Something I would really like to work on. So excited for this year!

I agree mostly, but some pop songs are not truly bad. I feel that the area of pop songs you are drawing evidence from are generally not on the child friendly side of songs. most pop songs, however, are not inappropriate to listen to.
