The school has decided to enforce the dress code more strictly, despite the policy already targeting specific groups. The administration maintains that these measures are the best solution for what they call “distracting choices.” For example students are prohibited from showing their backsides in leggings, no thinned strapped tank- tops, no open back shorts, and bra straps must remain hidden. Because the school chose to enforce these rules at the end of the year, many students find themselves in a difficult position: the new summer clothes they have already purchased are now useless. Another reason the dress code is seen as a negative is because strict dress codes hinder personal expression during personal years which could lead to self- image issues. while the administration should be focusing on improving ways to teach us of things we will need in the future. In essence, the school’s administration shouldn’t be focusing on how we dress and instead on how to improve our skills.

About the Contributor
Hi! My name is Brylee, and I am in 8th grade. I joined journalism because I wanted to work with the yearbook. I wanted to be part of the staff so that I could see behind the scenes. Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family. This year, I hope to learn new things that most people wouldn’t.
