In my opinion, the dress code at McAnally is unfair towards girls and is biased. Girls are targeted by the dress code, and they aren’t allowed to show their shoulders and back because it is considered “distracting” for boys. At the start of the year, they never enforced the dress code, but once everybody was back after spring break, they actually started to enforce it and dress-coded multiple girls in a week because they were “not covered enough” and causing a “distraction.” Personally, I think that girls showing their shoulders or undergarment straps is way less “distracting” than boys showing their underwear under their shorts. In conclusion, the dress code at McAnally targets a specific group and is extremely unfair.

My name is Olivia or Oli, and I’m in 8th grade. I joined journalism because my brother was in journalism and I thought it would be fun to interview students. Outside of school I like to hangout with friends and family, go outside, ride horses, and travel! I am excited to be a part of the journalism staff because I want to interview others and here everybody’s opinions and what they like.
